Affiliate Disclosure – How We Make Money

Affiliate Disclosure – The Honest Truth About How We Make Money

We’re transparent about how this site earns income. Here’s everything you need to know.

The Short Version (TL;DR)

Happy Nice Kitchen participates in the Amazon Associates program. When you click our Amazon links and buy something, we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This helps us test more products and keep the site running.

We only recommend products we’ve actually tested or genuinely believe are worth your money. Your trust is more important than any commission.

The Long Version (All the Details)

How Affiliate Links Work

Here’s exactly how it works (no secrets here):

  1. You click a product link on our site
  2. You’re taken to Amazon (or another retailer)
  3. You buy that product (or anything else in that session)
  4. We earn a commission (typically 3-8% of the purchase price)
  5. You pay the SAME price – Amazon pays us, not you

Important: If you buy a $300 KitchenAid mixer through our link, you still pay $300. Amazon just gives us a small percentage (~$15-20) as a “referral fee.” The price is exactly the same whether you use our link or not.

Which Programs Were In

As of 2026, were participating in:

  • Amazon Associates – Our main affiliate program (tag: hatimade-20)
  • Other retailers – Occasionally link to Target, Walmart, etc. (also affiliate links)

When we add new programs, we’ll update this page.

Our Editorial Policy (The Rules We Follow)

Here’s our promise about affiliate links:

✅ What We WILL Do:

  • Test products before recommending them (whenever possible)
  • Recommend the best product, not the one with highest commission
  • Tell you when something is NOT worth buying
  • Compare different brands honestly (even if one pays better)
  • Update recommendations when better products come out
  • Disclose affiliate relationships clearly

❌ What We WON’T Do:

  • Promote junk products just for commission
  • Hide the fact that links are affiliate links
  • Write fake positive reviews
  • Recommend products we havent tested without saying so
  • Let brands pay us to change our reviews

Why We Use Affiliate Links

Look, running a website costs money. Here’s what affiliate income pays for:

  • Products for testing – We buy most products ourselves ($200-500/month)
  • Website hosting & maintenance – Keeping the site fast and secure ($50/month)
  • Photography equipment – Taking good product photos
  • Time – Writing detailed reviews takes 5-10 hours per article

Without affiliate income, we’d have to fill the site with annoying ads or charge subscription fees. This way, the site stays free for you, and we only make money when we actually help you find a product you want.

Products We Haven’t Tested

Sometimes we recommend products we havent personally tested. When we do, we clearly state it. Here’s when that happens:

  • Budget alternatives – We test the premium version and suggest cheaper options based on specs/reviews
  • Seasonal items – Products that weren’t available during our test window
  • Highly rated products – When thousands of reviews show consistent quality

We always say “we havent tested this personally, but…” so you know the difference.

When We Return Products

Yep, we return stuff. If a product is terrible, we:

  1. Return it to Amazon (within 30 days)
  2. Write an honest review explaining why it sucks
  3. Recommend better alternatives
  4. Give up the commission (because we returned it)

Example: We tested a cheap $40 stand mixer that was supposed to compete with KitchenAid. It was trash. Returned it, wrote a review saying “don’t buy this,” and recommended spending more on a quality mixer instead. We made $0 from that article, but you didnt waste $40.

Price Updates & Availability

Amazon prices change constantly. When we write “~$299,” that was the price when we checked. By the time you click:

  • The price might be different (sales, demand changes, etc.)
  • The product might be out of stock
  • A newer model might be available

We try to update prices monthly, but cant track every single product 24/7. Always check the current price on Amazon before buying.

FTC Disclosure Requirements

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requires us to disclose affiliate relationships. That’s why you’ll see statements like:

“We earn from qualifying purchases”

“This post contains affiliate links”

“Amazon Associate disclosure”

These aren’t just legal CYA statements – we genuinely want you to know how the business works.

Questions About Affiliate Links?

Q: Does using your link cost me more?

A: No! The price is identical. Amazon (or the retailer) pays us from their profit.

Q: What if I buy something different than what you linked?

A: We still earn commission! If you click our KitchenAid link but end up buying a toaster, we get commission on the toaster too. (Thanks for supporting us!)

Q: Can I support you without buying anything?

A: Yes! Share our articles on social media, leave comments, or just tell friends about the site. Word-of-mouth is incredibly valuable.

Q: Do you accept sponsored posts?

A: Rarely, and only with full disclosure. We’ve never written a fake review for money, and we never will. If a brand wants us to test their product, we test it honestly and write whatever we think – good or bad.

2026 Update: New Transparency Initiatives

Starting in 2026, we’re adding:

  • “Tested personally” badges – Clear visual indicator on products we’ve used ourselves
  • Test date stamps – So you know when we last tested a product
  • Update logs – When we change recommendations, we’ll explain why
  • Commission transparency – We might start showing approximate commission ranges (e.g., “3-5%” for this product)

Your Support Matters

When you buy through our links, your literally keeping this site alive. Every purchase helps us:

  • Test more products
  • Write more in-depth guides
  • Update old content
  • Respond to your questions
  • Keep the site ad-free

Thank you for supporting independent product reviews! 🙏
