Our Favorite Kitchen Products – Editor’s Picks for 2026
After testing 100+ products, these are the ones we actually use every single day.
Real picks from our real kitchen. No BS.
Look, we test A LOT of kitchen stuff. Most of it’s fine. Some of its junk. But these products? These are the ones that earned permanent spots on our counters and in our cabinets.
This isn’t a “top 50” list with stuff we’ve never touched. These are the products we reach for multiple times per week, the ones we’d rebuy in a heartbeat, the ones we recommend to friends without hesitation.
🏆 BEST OVERALL: KitchenAid Professional 7-Quart Stand Mixer
Why its our favorite: This thing does EVERYTHING. Bread dough? Easy. Triple-batch cookies? No problem. Thick pizza dough that killed our old mixer? This handles it without breaking a sweat.
How often we use it: 4-5 times per week
Why you might love it too: If you bake regularly (especially bread), this mixer will change your life. Its expensive ($499), but it’ll last 20+ years. We’ve had ours for 3 years and its still perfect.
Who should skip it: If you bake less than 2x per month, get the Artisan or Mini instead. This is overkill for occasional baking.
☕ DAILY ESSENTIAL: Breville Barista Express
Why its our favorite: Hasnt paid for coffee shop visits in over a year. This machine makes cafe-quality lattes, and once you learn the basics (took about 2 weeks), its actually faster than driving to Starbucks.
How often we use it: Literally every morning. Sometimes twice.
The learning curve: First 10-20 shots will be mediocre. Then suddenly it clicks and you’re making drinks better than most coffee shops.
Money saved so far: ~$1,500 (we used to spend $5/day at coffee shops)
🍲 DINNER SAVER: Instant Pot Duo 6-Quart
Why its our favorite: Has saved us SO many nights when we forgot to defrost chicken or start dinner on time. Frozen chicken breast → perfectly cooked in 25 minutes. Magic.
How often we use it: 3-4 times per week
What we make most: Rice (perfect every time), chicken from frozen, soup in 20 minutes, ribs that fall off the bone.
Honest take: First few uses are intimidating. After that, you’ll wonder how you lived without it.
🍳 BEST $25 EVER SPENT: Lodge Cast Iron Skillet
Why its our favorite: This $25 skillet does the job of five different pans. Sear steak, fry eggs, bake cornbread, roast vegetables… it literally does everything.
How often we use it: Every. Single. Day.
Best part: It gets BETTER with age. Our 3-year-old skillet is so perfectly seasoned that eggs slide right off.
Maintenance: Easier than people think. Rinse, scrub, dry, light oil. Takes 2 minutes.
🍝 GAME-CHANGER: KitchenAid Pasta Roller Attachment
Why its our favorite: Fresh pasta is SO much better than dried. And this attachment makes it stupidly easy. Fettuccine in 20 minutes? Yes please.
How often we use it: 2-3 times per month (more in winter)
Cost per serving: About $0.50 for homemade vs $2-3 for fresh store-bought
Pro tip: Fresh pasta cooks in 2-3 minutes. Dont walk away or it’ll be mush. We learned this the hard way.
🥗 MEAL PREP MVP: Cuisinart 14-Cup Food Processor
Why its our favorite: Sunday meal prep went from 2 hours to 45 minutes. This thing chops, slices, and shreds faster than any person could.
How often we use it: Once per week (big meal prep session)
What it does best: Shredding cabbage for coleslaw, slicing potatoes for gratin, chopping onions without crying.
Durability: We’ve had ours for 3 years. Still works like new.
💡 Honorable Mentions
🍦 KitchenAid Ice Cream Maker ($99)
Summer essential. Homemade ice cream for $2/pint. Just remember to freeze the bowl 15 hours ahead.
🔪 Good Chef’s Knife ($40-80)
Can’t have a favorite because we replace ours every 2-3 years. But Victorinox Fibrox is our go-to.
🍪 Silicone Baking Mats ($20)
Reusable, nothing sticks, no cleanup. Way better than parchment paper.
⚖️ Kitchen Scale ($20)
Baking by weight = way more accurate. Also good for portioning meat, tracking calories.
🚫 Products We Thought We’d Love (But Didn’t)
Air fryer: We wanted to love it, but honestly? Our cast iron + oven does the same job. Its fast, but not worth the counter space for us.
Spiralizer attachment: Fun for 2 weeks. Now it sits in a drawer. Zucchini noodles aren’t that great, turns out.
Rice cooker: Instant Pot makes perfect rice. Dont need a unitasker.
Bread machine: Honestly, KitchenAid + oven makes better bread. And mixing by hand isnt that hard.
Note: These might work great for YOU. Just didnt fit our cooking style.
💰 If You Could Only Buy 3 Things…
- Lodge Cast Iron Skillet ($25) – Best bang for buck, use it daily
- Instant Pot Duo ($99) – Saves SO many dinner disasters
- KitchenAid Mixer ($249-499) – Only if you bake regularly
Total: $373-623 for a killer kitchen setup.
📝 Why These Make the Cut
To be on this page, a product has to meet ALL these criteria:
- ✅ We use it at least once per week (usually more)
- ✅ Would immediately rebuy if it broke
- ✅ Recommend it to friends without hesitation
- ✅ Still happy with it 6+ months after buying
- ✅ Makes cooking/baking genuinely easier or better
These aren’t just products we tested and liked. These are the ones that earned permanent spots in our kitchen.
Your Kitchen Will Be Different
Look, what works for us might not work for you. If you never bake, dont buy a $500 mixer. If you hate coffee, skip the espresso machine.
The BEST kitchen tools are the ones you’ll actually use. Start with basics (good knife, cutting board, one pan), then add tools as you discover what you actually need.
